Dr. Robert Satterfield is an EmergeOrtho—Triangle Region orthopedic doctor specializing in general orthopedics. He is board-certified and recertified in orthopedic surgery, addressing a wide range of conditions and injuries that affect the musculoskeletal system. Some of his interests and areas of focus include sports medicine, arthroscopy, and carpal tunnel syndrome. Dr. Satterfield strives to provide patient-centered care to help improve the quality of life of all of his patients.

Education and Expertise

Dr. Satterfield is a native of Raleigh, North Carolina where he graduated from Broughton High School. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from Wake Forest University and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa as a junior before graduating summa cum laude. He completed medical school at The Medical College of Virginia (MCV/VCU) in Richmond, Virginia, where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA). He completed his internship in general surgery and residency in orthopedic surgery at MCV/VCU as well.

In 2000, Dr. Satterfield joined EmergeOrtho. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, the North Carolina Orthopedic Association, the North Carolina Medical Society, and the Wilson Medical Society. He is on staff at Wilson Medical Center and Eastern Regional Surgery Center in Wilson.

Community Connections

Dr. Satterfield’s volunteer service within the community of Wilson includes acting as the team physician for Barton College, Fike High School, and the Wilson Tobs Baseball Team. He is also the Medical Director for the Athletic Training Education Program at Barton College. He is one of the founding members of The Carolina Sports Medicine Institute, a non-profit organization assisting the community with education and sports medicine.

Dr. Satterfield serves in a teaching capacity for physicians assistants (PAs), medical students, and high school students as a mentor. Additionally, he is very active at First United Methodist Church and also mentors/tutors at Hearne Elementary School through the Hand-in-Hand program.
