Prior to joining Triangle Orthopedic Associates in 2014, Dr. Lucas Romine, M.D. served as faculty in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He practices General Orthopedics with sub-specialty expertise in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery.
Dr. Romine is a native of Nashville, TN and an alumnus of Berry College in Georgia. In college, he played basketball on a full athletic scholarship and was named team captain and an Academic All-American. Subsequently, he graduated from medical school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis followed by residency training in Orthopedic Surgery at the Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, LA.
During residency, Dr. Romine was involved in multiple clinical research endeavors, focusing on risk assessment for patients undergoing total joint replacement. He personally presented his research regionally, nationally and internationally, including the Chinese Orthopedic Association Congress in Beijing and the European Federation of Orthopedics and Traumatology in Berlin, Germany. His research has been published in several peer-reviewed orthopedic journals.
After residency, Dr. Romine went on to complete sub-specialty fellowship training in Shoulder & Elbow surgery at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, which is consistently ranked the #1 hospital in the United States. There he gained advanced experience in modern, innovative surgical techniques for treatment of complex pathology involving both the shoulder and elbow. This includes arthroscopic and open, revision reconstruction of the shoulder and elbow, including reverse shoulder replacement. He was a lecturer at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and involved in the clinical education of the medical students and residents there. While in Baltimore, he also provided medical treatment for elite athletes as a team physician for the Baltimore Orioles.
Dr. Romine’s patients are often most impressed with his caring nature and attentive bedside manner. His compassion and empathy combined with knowledge of various non-operative treatment options make him a comprehensive expert in the musculoskeletal system. His professional philosophy is to treat every patient as a member of his own family.
Dr. Romine is married and his wife, Ashley, is an alumnus of UNC-Wilmington where she ran track and cross country. Together they enjoy spending time with their children, staying fit and traveling abroad.
Care that is Above and Beyond!
I have been a long term patient and couldnt be happier with the services I have revived. Nichole Frances and Dr Romine are fantastic and also take the time to answer all my questions thoroughly and provide care that is above and beyond!
I see many doctors but Dr. Romine and his team are by far my favorite health care professionals. They all seem to truly care about their patients and have a great bedside manner. I know many health care workers that could learn a lesson or two from their office on how to treat patients with dignity and respect. I hope I never break another bone but if I do I will know who to see.
Gave me Ease and Confidence!
I feel fortunate to have had the doctor and staff here take care of me in during my injury. They gave me a feeling of ease and confidence that I was in the right hands. Thank You!!!
Encouraging and Positive!
Dr. Romine is always so encouraging and positive. He listens well and you can feel his concern and empathy. He explains things well and doesn't mind if I ask questions. I feel confident in his care.
Great Bedside Manner!
He is well knowledged and politely professional and has a great bedside manner. As a person with 20 years in emergency medicine myself, I can attest that the first impression demonstrated to a patient by a caregiver is the most important in how treatment outcomes will be. You only get one chance to make an impression and Dr. Romine secured that in our first meeting.
Dr. Romine was very courteous, helpful and a terrific bed side manner. Thank you for making this new patient comfortable.
Wonderful First Experience
My first visit to an orthopedic office and I was very pleased with how I was treated and how quickly I was seen. I would absolutely return and recommend to others! Great job!
Triangle Orthopaedic did everything possible to insure my comfort, and understanding of the injury and the treatment for the injury. They were "GREAT" in making me feel welcome, and giving me the best service available.
Dr. Romine is the most wonderful doctor we have ever met, he is the nicest, caring doctor that we have come across. I responded with “we think so too," and we have decided he’s a keeper.
