Dr. Les Phillips is a psychologist that specializes in the behavioral treatment of chronic pain and stress-related illnesses, as well as psychological assessment for pain-related medical procedures. Dr. Phillips provides individual treatment for adult patients. His focus is on empowering patients with knowledge and techniques designed to help restore a healthy lifestyle and minimize the role of pain and other symptoms in their lives. Dr. Phillips’ primary treatment approach is changing behavioral and thinking patterns associated with the condition. In order to accomplish this, he uses a variety of behavioral techniques including an array of mind-body methods such as hypnosis, mindfulness meditation, relaxation training and biofeedback.

Dr. Phillips has more than 20 years’ experience working with persons with chronic pain, and was the clinical director of two comprehensive pain rehabilitation programs. Additionally, he helped to develop and implement behavioral programs for stress management, smoking cessation, and weight loss. Dr. Phillips also conducted corporate training, and provided instruction for medical students, psychology graduate students, nursing students, and rehabilitation professionals, and presented at numerous public seminars.

Dr. Phillips completed his undergraduate studies at Missouri State University, and his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at the University of Missouri, Columbia.
