Biography:

Dr. Gilmer is a graduate of Baylor University, Waco, Texas. He attended medical school at the University of Virginia, completed two years of general surgical training in Denver, Colorado, and then his Orthopaedic Residency at Duke University Medical Center, finishing in 1986.

He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He has served as Medical Staff President of Durham Regional Hospital, past President of Triangle Orthopaedic Associates, PA, and is currently a member of the Triangle Orthopaedic Associates, P.A. Executive Committee.

Dr. Gilmer now restricts his practice to the Triangle Orthopaedic Associates Satellite Office in Roxboro, N.C. and maintains an active surgical presence at Person Memorial Hospital. He brings to Roxboro nearly 20 years experience in general orthopaedics, including management of musculoskeletal trauma, joint replacement surgery, sports injuries with an emphasis on arthroscopic surgery, as well as common foot and ankle problems. He maintains an up-to-date experience with spine surgery including cervical and lumbar procedures, and has recently added kyphoplasty to his surgical options.

The Roxboro Satellite Office is located at 665 Carver Drive, near Person Memorial Hospital, and is staffed full-time by Dr. Gilmer and an experienced orthopaedic Physician Assistant, Don McCauley, PA-C. A knowledgeable and friendly staff makes this satellite a patient friendly environment.
