Hand Therapy

Restoring ability for the simplest of tasks and beyond

Life can quickly be disrupted by an injury or accident to our hands. Loss of hand function can result in a person’s inability to work and/or perform normal daily activities. Even simple tasks can become major challenges.

At Triangle Orthopaedics, hand therapy services involve specialized evaluations and treatment of hand and upper extremity musculoskeletal problems caused by injury or disease. The staff includes three experienced certified hand therapists, and an occupational therapy assistant. Individualized rehabilitation programs consist of modalities for pain relief, supervised exercise programs, custom splint fabrication and a variety of evaluation tools to provide objective information and up-to-date progress results. Home program participation is highly emphasized.

Certified hand therapists (CHT) offer their patients specialized care and the highest competency necessary to restore an individual’s function. Hand therapists must be knowledgeable about the intricate anatomy of the upper extremity and the technical surgical procedures for post-operative management. The CHT is an occupational or physical therapist dedicated to delivering the highest standard of practice. The CHT credential is recognized by physicians and other professional organizations as the benchmark for excellence in this specialty.
