Biography:
Dr. Kurt Ehlert has over 14 years of orthopaedic experience. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Ehlert also is a member of the North Carolina Orthopaedic Association and the Wake County Medical Society.
Dr. Ehlert was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and attended undergraduate school at the University of Wisconsin. He completed his medical degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee in 1987 and performed his orthopaedic residency there as well. While in his final year of residency, Dr. Ehlert served as Chief Orthopaedic Resident for the 25 orthopaedic residents in-training. He subsequently served four years in the United States Air Force as an orthopaedic surgeon and Chief of the Orthopaedic Clinic at Davis Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona. Dr. Ehlert has been in private practice since that time.
Dr. Ehlert has had a lifelong interest in sports and athletes. After participating in many sports in high school, he played for a national champion touch football team in Milwaukee. His interests have continued in his professional career. Dr. Ehlert has worked with Olympic and professional athletes in the past and currently treats many elite local athletes.
Dr. Ehlert lives in Raleigh with his wife, Lori, and their five children: Kirsten, Erik, Alex, Andrew, and Brett.
