William J. Mallon, M.D.

Biography:

Dr. Mallon is a graduate of the Duke University Medical School. He completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at Duke University Medical Center and a Fellowship in Shoulder Surgery at the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada.

Dr. Mallon is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and has been elected as an active Member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Society. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and a member of several medical societies. He is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery.

Dr. Mallon has a broad range of experience in orthopaedic problems and treatment with particular emphasis and expertise in surgery of the shoulder, elbow, and hand. A former professional golfer and now known as "The Golf Doctor," he frequently treats golfers with injuries.

Recently, Dr. Mallon has been selected as the Editor-In-Chief of the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery.  This position will be for three years starting in 2009.

Dr. Mallon practices at Durham Regional Hospital, North Carolina Specialty Hospital, James E. Davis Surgery Center, Person Memorial Hospital, Granville Medical Center, Maria Parham Hospital, Lincoln Community Health Center, Durham Veterans' Administration Medical Center, and University of North Carolina Hospitals.
