Hip Labral Tear Repair

The labrum is a ring of elastic tissue that surrounds the hip joint socket and holds the ball of the femur in place. Labral tears cause a catching sensation in the hip, pain, and stiffness that limits range of motion.

To repair a labral tear, an arthroscopic surgery is performed. In this procedure, several tiny incisions are made over the hip joint to insert a camera and surgical instruments. The surgeon then either removes the damaged piece of labrum or repairs it by sewing the torn tissue back together. It typically takes a patient anywhere from six to twelve weeks to recover after surgery and four to six months to return to sports.

We have some of the best surgeons in the area at Triangle Orthopaedics to perform hip surgeries such as this and we stand behind our quality services. To learn more about labral tears, whether in the hip or another joint in the body, please contact any of our Carolina office locations.
